Hello, and welcome to the RMDS website...
The RMDS was formed in Ringwood, Hampshire by a group of enthusiastic amateurs way back in 1911. Stopping only for enforced breaks during two World Wars, the Society has been producing musicals, concerts, plays and revues ever since. |
Easter Musical Summer Show Autumn Play The Soiree RMDS Choir Special Shows |
|
The annual Easter Musical has featured many large scale shows such as "Showboat", "Hello Dolly!", "Fiddler on the Roof" , "Anything Goes!, "South Pacific" and "Kiss Me Kate". Limited only by the size of the stages available to it, the RMDS has always been very ambitious and has never avoided a challenge. Our shows have all been produced locally, latterly at the newly refurbished Ringwood School Theatre, and very well received by the people of Ringwood and the surrounding area. |

Every July the RMDS Summer Show is welcomed back with the greatest anticipation. Inside Ringwood's Greyfriars Community Centre three short shows are produced with a central theme. The audience progresses from one to another during the evening, with breaks for refreshments between shows. Our triangular themes have included "The Thirties, Forties, & Fifties", "Sun, Moon & Stars" "Bell, Book & Candle" and "Loves: Labours: Lost:". These annual shows have now been part of the RMDS for over twenty-five years and continue to grow in popularity. |
|
In October it's time for the Autumn Play which over the years has included all manner of different genres from dramas to farces, from romps to romances. Staged for three nights, our productions have ranged all the way from the ethereal nonsense of "Blithe Spirit" to the bawdy comedy of "Tom Jones". |

The Ringwood Soirée is a perennially popular revue show which has its spiritual home with the RMDS. This long-established and much loved Ringwood institution usually runs for three weeks in the Autumn. A great evening of song, dance and comic sketches, the Soirée has, over the years, entertained a great many people and raised thousands of pounds for good causes. |

An excellent Choir is another element of the society's contribution to local entertainment, in addition to the annual theatrical productions. This talented group performs throughout the year in various locations in and around the Ringwood area, especially at Christmas with its very popular yuletide concerts. |
