RMDS ANNUAL AWARDS

The Tessa Casalis de Pury Award
'The Tessa'

This rose bowl is awarded every year in memory of Tessa Casilis de Pury who was for many years the leader and inspiration of the RMDS costume makers. It is awarded to a member of the RMDS who is judged to have made an outstanding contribution to the life of the society during the previous year.

The 2011 recipient of the 'Tessa' award,  Sam Coleman, receiving the award from Tessa's son, Robert Casilis de Pury, for all his work for the RMDS. Currently Hon. Treasurer, Sam has been a member since the 1950s and has, in his time, been chairman, vice-chairman, publicity officer and Soiree ticket supremo. The RMDS couldn't function without people like Sam.

The Ronald & Dorice Hare Cup
'The Bunny'

This cup is awarded every year in memory of Ronald (Bunny) and Dorice Hare who were for many years devoted members and supporters of the RMDS. The cup is awarded in recognition of an outstanding performance in an RMDS production.

The 2010 recipient of the 'Bunny', Sheryle Sketchley,  receiving the 'Bunny' at the Hello Dolly! dress rehearsal from Bunny & Dorice's son, Steve Hare, for her tour-de-force performance as 'Marie Hoff' in the RMDS production of The Rise & Fall of Little Voice.

The 'It'll Be Alright On The Night'

This cup is awarded every year by the RMDS Greenroom committee from nominations made by cast and crew members from the Easter Musical. The cup is awarded in recognition of an outstanding cock-up during the run of the show either on stage or off.

The Plonker 2011 goes to... Andy Steeds!

Andy was nominated for his performance as Cornelius Hackl in a scene in Hello Dolly! in which, in at least two performances, he managed to emerge from the cellar of Vandergelder's Hay & Feed Store and trap his apron in the trapdoor.
